From 27 to 29 April the Office in Tajikistan hosted a round table on development of community policing. The focus was on interaction between the police, civil society and media.
The event was part of an Office-supported project, providing a forum for dialogue between law enforcement agencies and the Public Councils, in co-operation with the US Department of State’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Some 130 representatives of Public Councils on Police Reform, police officers, mass media, the OSCE, the Department of State’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as two experts from the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and one expert from Northern Ireland participated in the round table. Representatives of media organizations also participated in the round table.
