On 28 May the Mission to Serbia provided support to the Valjevo Police District in launching the project “Together Toward the Problem’s Solution”.
The project focuses on the issue of asylum seekers in three local communities that host asylum centers. The purpose is to raise awareness and improve the perception of migrants by the local population, in an effort to build mutual trust.
The project raises awareness with public campaigns on legal procedures to obtain asylum; it also trains police officers to better assist asylum seekers. This initiative is part of the Mission’s wider efforts in assisting the police service in implementing the community policing concept.
