Summary

On 3 and 4 September, the Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina assisted the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina in organising a two-day workshop in Sarajevo for the finalisation of the Integrated Border Management Strategy of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2015-2018. The workshop brought together members of the inter-agency Working Group responsible for drafting the Strategy and consisting of representatives from all government institutions relevant for the development of this strategic document. During the Workshop, final additions and updates to the strategy were agreed upon, and the draft document is now ready to be forwarded for adoption.

The strategy represents a highly significant document for Bosnia and Herzegovina as it addresses issues relevant for the visa liberalisation roadmap, the EU progress report and the Reform Agenda which was recently adopted by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the process of development and finalization of the strategy, in line with the OSCE comprehensive border management concept and its “whole of government” approach to border management, also assisting the country to meet its international obligations.
