Summary

In responding to the rise of injuries from traffic accidents, 24 on 25 March the Mission in Montenegro and the NGO Association of Drivers of Montenegro organized a meeting in Podgorica entitled “Children’s Traffic Safety – a joint initiative of all relevant stakeholders in Montenegro.”

The purpose was to exchange information between organizations and civil society to improve children's traffic safety. A Mission proposal for a coordinated public awareness campaign in September at the start of the school year was widely accepted and an inter-agency working group has been established. The campaign aims to contact children in 161 primary schools focusing on first class pupils aged 6 years. The working group will devise the campaign logo, as well as TV and radio promotions to launch it.
