Summary

From 27 to 30 October and from 3 to 6 November, the Mission in Serbia, in co-operation with the Swedish National Police Board’s bilateral programme for Serbia, organized two cycles of training on investigative interviewing techniques. Participants included police victim co-ordinators from police districts of Belgrade, Kikinda, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Leskovac, Novi Sad, Pirot, Sombor, Subotica, Vranje and Zrenjanin.

The course explored the most appropriate approach in communication and protection of victims from three specialized police trainers. In addition, the course provided the participants with the tailor made module on the PEACE interviewing model, representing the best international practice and a standard that respects human rights. The goal of the activity is to support institutional mechanisms of tackling domestic violence and to improve an effective and accountable relationship between the community and the Police Service.
