Summary

On 23 May, the Mission supported the members of Local Public Safety Committee (LPSC) from Kaçanik/Kačanik municipality in facilitating the 17th LPSC Executive Council Meeting as part of its joint project with the Royal Norwegian Embassy to support community safety initiatives through LPSCs.

The meeting mainly focused on achievements during the fourth phase of the respective project, where members of LPSCs across Kosovo discussed their implemented initiatives and exchanged best practices in addressing community safety and security related concerns. Additionally, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kosovo Police (KP) and different organisations provided updates regarding their contribution to the safety sector. Furthermore, as requested by LPSCs for some time, the KP awarded the leaders and deputy leaders of LPSCs with ID cards during this meeting. Around 100 participants attended the meeting, which included the members of 60 LPSCs, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, the Norwegian Ambassador, senior police managers, as well as representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and different NGOs.
