Mission in Kosovo delivered a workshop on Internet and social media to counter violent extremism and radicalization

Summary

From 23 to 24 May, the Mission in Kosovo organised a workshop on how to use Internet and social media to counter violent extremism and radicalization for representatives of the Kosovo Police, Ministry of Internal Affairs, university students, religious groups and journalists. The workshop provided the participants with guidance on different Internet platforms and social media, as well as enhanced their capacities to identify extremist narratives and counter them by creating positive narratives and alternatives. It also focused on how to report improper or illegal content, either to the Internet platform providers, or to the police. Moreover, the police representative familiarized the participants with the Kosovo legislation which covers inciting national, racial, religious or ethnic hatred, discord or intolerance.
