Summary

In order to address the issue of religious radicalization and to promote a positive counter-narrative on the ground, the OSCE Presence, in co-operation with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Albanian CVE National Coordinator’s office, co-hosted a “Strong Cities in Countering Violent Extremism in Albania” workshop in Tirana, on 27-28 April. Local stakeholders from five municipalities shared their experiences in making use of Local Safety Councils, previously established with the OSCE Presence’s support, as local referral platforms, aiming at preventing citizens’ radicalization, and shared lessons learned on rehabilitation and reintegration of radicalized persons.
