Mission in Serbia organised outreach to minority communities for police recruitment

Summary

From 31 March to 2 April, the Mission in Serbia and the Ministry of Interior’s Basic Police Training Center (BPTC) organised outreach sessions in southern and eastern Serbia to promote the newly published call for the applicants for the BPTC.

The information sessions gathered youth from the ethnic Albanian, Romanian, Vlach and Roma minority communities. Mission and BPTC representatives provided participants with information and deadlines about the police recruitment process. During the same period, Mission representatives conducted separate outreach sessions for Roma communities in Vranje, Nis, Prokuplje and Kragujevac. Members of the Roma Women’s Network and the Standing Conference of Roma Associations of the Citizens, municipal Roma coordinators, Pedagogical Assistants, Roma National Minority Council representatives and minority youth interested in applying also attended the sessions.

These sessions form part of the Mission’s longstanding efforts to encourage all minorities throughout Serbia to pursue careers in the police, fostering a diverse and representative police service.
