Summary

From 30 May to 1 June, the OSCE Mission to Serbia, together with the National Training Center of the Ministry of Interior’s Sector for Emergency Management, organised a workshop in Nis on disaster preparedness for the staff of emergency teams of the municipalities of Nis, Svrljig and Aleksinac.

The objective of the workshop was to examine the extent to which municipalities are able to respond to developing natural or human made disaster. A total of 50 members of emergency teams took part in a mock exercise which improved the teams’ ability to respond efficiently and effectively to a disaster in progress. This activity is part of the Mission’s efforts to assist the local authorities in developing a sustainable system approach to local disaster management.
