Police training on enhancing gender sensitivity in dealing with violence against women and domestic violence


Material from two one-day workshops to enhance the gender sensitivity of police in dealing with violence against women and domestic violence. It was organised by the Mission to Skopje, in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNDP. The workshop provided participants with an overview of the legal framework in the country for dealing with and preventing domestic violence, as well as best practices and standard operating procedures. It provided police officers with the opportunity to learn how to implement a victims-centered approach to such crimes, respecting the dignity of the victim, providing adequate referral mechanisms and psychological assistance.
