Presence in Albania organised a working group co-ordination meeting on forced labour inspection

Summary

On 24 February the Presence, in co-ordination with the Office of the National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, held a working group meeting, attended by border and anti-trafficking units of the State Police, Tirana Police and State Labour Inspectorate. In January 2017 there were ten joint inspections between police and labour inspectors in Tirana, resulting in the identification of labour exploitation and potentially human trafficking cases and arrests of perpetrators. Still, the joint inspections revealed the need for improving co-ordination and preliminary information exchange. The Presence explained to the labour inspectors and police their responsibilities regarding victims’ identification and the procedures for referral. The Presence will continue to provide technical support to the working group
