The World Customs Organization (WCO) is partnering with the OSCE, in order to deploy specialized training on the prevention of illicit trafficking of cultural heritage in Central Asia.
This hands-on training will serve as a stepping stone for the preparation of the customs administrations for operational activities, including a global customs-police operation planned for 2019.
Background
The WCO launched the specialised Prevention of Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Heritage - PITCH Handbook in November 2018, in response to its obligation highlighted in the WCO Council Resolution on the role of customs in prevention of illicit trafficking of cultural objects, adopted in July 2016.
