Summary

From 10 to 14 August, the Programme Office completed the donation process of assets to 20 territorial police departments in Kyrgyzstan, which was carried out as a part of the closure process of the Community Security Initiative (CSI) project. The purpose of the donation was to ensure the continued effective use of OSCE equipment, which used to be employed in the framework of CSI and finalize the CSI project closure process.

The Programme Office donated 206 assets that were used by CSI project, including 41 laptops, 44 desktop computers, 36 photocopying machines/printers and 85 various photo and video cameras. The equipment is expected to be used by public safety units at territorial police departments in Chuy, Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh provinces, which include neighbourhood police officers and juvenile delinquency inspectors. It is envisaged that the donated assets will significantly increase the efficiency and productivity of the frontline police officers in addressing local communities’ security concerns and Kyrgyzstan’s community policing efforts.
