This report contains summaries of all sessions and the recommendations of the meeting that took place in Vienna on 29-30 October 2009.
This meeting focused on the role of police in preventing and responding to hate crimes, special investigative techniques and approaches as well as inter-agency and international co-operation.
The event brought together more than 65 national and international experts from the OSCE participating States. Distinguished keynote speakers from Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Russia, the UK and the USA delivered presentations on activities in the field of hate crimes of their respective countries and institutions. They shared their experience, good practices and lessons learnt with other participants, as well as identified the main areas of concern, where improvement was needed.
