Training on border crossing facilitation on international highways and railways, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

Summary

From 28 May to 2 June, a six-day training on border crossing facilitation on international highways and railways was conducted in Ashgabat. The key objective of the training was to expose senior border guards of Turkmenistan to the legal, security, administrative, technical, economic and environmental aspects of rail and road border crossing of goods and passengers. Experts from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the World Customs Organization, and the OSCE Secretariat facilitated the training. Participants addressed issues of inland transport and international legal instruments aimed at border crossing facilitation, as well as conventions regulating international aspects of rail-, road transport and road traffic. Discussions also included computerization and digitalization of inland transport and transport infrastructures.
