This brochure aims at disseminating basic information about community policing among the wider public. It provides brief definition of community policing, practical approaches and examples for police-community partnership.
The brochure is a means to marketing the idea of community policing among general public. It seeks to not only introduce the concept of community policing, but also to encourage active participation of community members in providing and ensuring public safety.
The brochure was developed and produced by the Community Policing Project team of the OSCE Police Reform Programme for Kyrgyzstan. Some key provisions in the brochure refer to the SARA problem-solving method, difference between traditional and contemporary policing, and steps that can be taken by community members to help their local police officers (social partnership).
