Summary

The purpose of this lesson is to provide the students with an understanding of the principles and appropriate use of the soft empty-hand control techniques. The lesson is designed to be interactive and highly participatory.

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. Cite the definition of “soft empty hand control techniques” and the level of subject resistance to which these techniques apply
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of controlling potentially aggressive subjects from the Escort Position by applying the Transport Wrist Lock and the Straight Arm Take Down
  3. Demonstrate basic concepts of Balance and Positioning
  4. List and demonstrate the two (2) primary defensive hand counter strikes
  5. List and demonstrate the two (2) primary leg counter strikes.
