Train-the-trainer for Tajik border troops

Summary

From 11 to 22 February, 25 border officers of the Tajik Border Troops (all men) improved their skills to effectively conduct surveillance of border areas and operational planning, adhere to decision-making processes relevant to green border protection and provide first aid during a train-the-trainer course facilitated by the Office. The training focused on enhancing participants’ awareness of mine risks and mitigation, human rights, gender mainstreaming and the importance of improving communication and trust-building between law enforcement and border communities to strengthen grassroots assistance to border management.

The training, the first of three courses to be organized in 2019, was conducted by four graduates of the Office’s train-the-trainer programme for Tajik Border Troops at the Khalkayor Training Centre, Khatlon region. One of the trainers emphasized the value of exercising his new skills acquired during the Office’s train-the-trainer programme by conducting the course.
