This is a joint public safety agency workshop intended for an audience composed of police, customs, fire and corrections senior officers. The session is driven by the PowerPoint presentation which contains all of the tasks. There is enormous scope within this workshop for trainer flexibility and innovation. Management principles of all descriptions such as team building, decision making and so on can be introduced as, and when, the opportunity or need arises.

The goal of the lesson is to create an awareness of how joint agency co-operation and common standards can assist in solving complex community problems.

At the conclusion of the lesson, the participants will be able to:

  • Solve a problem by using the SARA model;
  • Appreciate the role of intelligence in the realisation of an organisational plan;
  • Apply the SARA problem solving model and a structured intelligence model to a complex joint agency problem;
  • Outline their approach towards creating a standardised intelligence model in their organisation.
