Summary

The SECI is a regional organisation whose mission is to strengthen law enforcement cooperation among countries members of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative (SECI). Concerted efforts of the participating states to prevent, detect, investigate and prosecute illegal cross-border activities represent the bottom-line of the Center’s operation.

SECI also is strengthening the stability and economic development of Southeastern Europe, and helps to create the conditions for the economic resurgence of the region.

The concerted effort to diminish smuggling and other illegal cross-border activities will facilitate legitimate cross-border trade, thus enhancing the prospects for a healthy region-wide economic development.

Some basic pieces of information about international police co-operation, and SECI are presented and explained in this lesson. It will help you to understand some basic problems in investigation of transnational organised crimes.

The goal of this lesson is to provide the KPS officers with the basic terms about SECI.

At the conclusion of this lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the abrivation “SECI” and its mission.
  2. List at least three advantages of “SECI”.
