Lesson 32: Basic management skills – Workplace welfare

The goal of this lesson is to provide Police Inspectorate staff with an introduction to the theory and practice of health and safety in the workplace, as well as its importance in assessing KPS management performance in this area.

When you have completed this Lesson you will be able to:

1. Explain the term Workplace Welfare
2. List employers’ and employees’ health & safety responsibilities
3. Describe and explain each step of the 5-Step Health & Safety Management Procedure
4. Carry out a Safety Audit
5. Carry out regular Risk Assessments
6. Take appropriate action to reduce Work-Related Stress as and when this affects your colleagues and co-workers, including the people in your team
