Mission to Skopje supports trainees of Task Force to Combat Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Human Beings

Summary

From 29 May to 1 June, the Mission, in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoIA) Training Centre, organised an initial introductory training on combating trafficking in human beings (CTHB) for over 21 trainees in the newly-established Task Force for Combating Smuggling of Migrants and Human Trafficking.

In consultation with the stakeholders, the Mission presented training tools and a training platform on THB to ensure that law enforcement is able to respond appropriately to such crimes.

Spanish experts highlighted best international practices in combating THB and presented the latest contemporary trends related to THB and irregular migration. Lecturers from the MoIA Training Center delivered a training session related to the standard operating procedures, and how to raise awareness among police officers on victims of trafficking, as well as the criminals behind it. This training course is part of the comprehensive support of the Mission to build the capacities of the National Unit for CTHB and will be centered around thematic clusters in the future.
