Training on investigation techniques of cases of human trafficking for the representatives of counter-trafficking unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The purpose of the project was to build the technical and investigative capacities of the representatives, namely investigators, of the Anti-Trafficking Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Summary

In line with OSCE priorities, the OSCE Office in Baku (OiB) has undertaken to assist the Azerbaijani government in its efforts to combat human trafficking. The project proposed here endeavoured to help the government to investigate and prosecute traffickers by building the investigative capacities of the Azerbaijani Anti-trafficking police force.

For this purpose, the Office co-operated with the Counter-Organised Crime Main Department of the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation and, with the technical expertise of two Hungarian police experts, conducted a three-day training course for investigators of the Unit for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The training course included both the theoretical and practical exercises on topics such as various forms of investigation (active, proactive and disruptive), interrogation, arrest and aftermath, search and confiscation, possible evidences after the arrest and international and inter-agency coordination.
