Programe Office in Bishkek continued to assist in countering violent extremism

Mission Activity
Violent extremism and radicalisation leading to terrorism

Within the Countering Terrorism portfolio, the Centre in Bishkek partnered with the Civil Initiative on Internet Policy (CIIP) to organize the International Expert Symposium on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Online, held under the auspices of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan on 22-23 February. The event brought together international and national experts in CVE and media policy as well as representatives of civil society and international organizations. The participants shared experiences and best practices to effectively address the spread of radical ideologies online and the recruitment of vulnerable populations into the ranks of extremist groups.

The Centre in Bishkek also provided logistical support to organize the Secretariat-sponsored participation of three Osh youth activists in the Leadership Against Intolerance and Violent Extremism Training held between 27 February and 3 March in Vienna.
