Summary

A project is a series of tasks completed to achieve a major outcome. It is not the same as daily responsibilities. Daily responsibilities are ongoing. A project has a definite beginning and a definite end. Projects can range from a week to several years, and they require special management. Even older, repetitive projects must be managed in a constantly changing environment.

As more an organization becomes a network of simultaneous projects, managers are increasingly responsible for project management.

The goal of the lesson is to understand projects and project management in the organisation.

At the end of this lesson participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the projects and the way to manage a project effectively.
  2. Describe differences between projects and routine tasks.
  3. Describe the phases of projects.
  4. Identify skills of Project Manager.
  5. Identify responsibilities of Project Manager.
  6. Plan activities and programs with time and dimensions.
