Numerous research studies often link poor learning with a failure to use training aids and similarly link effective learning to the professional use of well designed training aids. There is little doubt that use of more than one sense, for example both sight and sound, enhance understanding and memory. As long as you do not overload your participants' sensory input, the more senses you use the better.
Example could be the use of picture and sound. During the news there are always either pictures still associated with the new item, or more often, film of what is being talked about. It is very rare to see the news reporter alone on the screen and even then there is a still picture depicting the story in the background.
The Aim of this unit is to provide an understanding about the use of Training Aids and to develop the necessary skills to in order to create and apply them.
