A practical handbook on co-operation in protecting the rights of trafficked persons, published by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR)
These guidelines are based on international human rights instruments and look at the protection of trafficked children from their identification up to their recovery and integration.
The purposes of this Convention are to prevent and combat trafficking in human beings, protect human rights of the victims of the trafficking, design a framework for the protection and assistance of victims and witnesses.
The Convention prescribes procedures for combating international traffic for the purpose of prostitution, including extradition of offenders. It also prohibits the running of brothels and renting accommodation for prostitution purposes.
This report, produced by the SPMU, provides an overview of the sessions of the workshop that took place in Tashkent on 14-15 May 2008 as well as recommendations by the participants. Building capacity of national criminal justice systems in Central Asia and improving cooperation and information exchange between investigative agencies and central authorities were the aims of this workshop.
