The Convention was adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 12 July 2007 at Strasbourg, and aims at preventing and combatting sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children; protecting the rights of child victims of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse and promoting national and international co-operation against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children.
The Prague declaration has been adopted during the ministerial conference "Safer Internet for Children - fighting together against illegal content and conduct on-line" that took place in Prague on 20 April 2009
